Dean Forge is a family-run British stove manufacturer based in Dean Prior, on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. Established in 1969, the company built its first wood-burning stove in 1978 and is now run by the third generation of the Chew family. Every stove is made at their own forge — with doors cast in a British foundry — and every current model meets EcoDesign, DEFRA and clearSkies Level 5 standards.

It's style and fuel. The Croft is the timeless classic — the original 1978 design, wood burning. The Sherford is sleek and contemporary, also wood burning. The Woodbury blends traditional looks with modern performance and is multi-fuel, so it burns wood or smokeless fuels. All three come in 5kW and 8kW sizes, with slimline versions for shallower hearths.

Yes. Every Dean Forge Eco stove is DEFRA exempt, meaning you can legally burn wood in UK smoke-controlled areas — and EcoDesign compliance plus clearSkies Level 5 certification comes as standard across the range.

As a rough guide, 5kW suits average-sized living rooms, while 8kW models are for larger spaces or open-plan rooms. Slimline versions give you the same output in a shallower body where hearth depth is tight. If you're unsure, send us your room dimensions and we'll point you at the right model.

Up to nine finishes depending on the range — from classic matt black to bold contemporary colours — with a choice of black or stainless steel handles and air controls on most models.
